A small but mighty group of sixth-grade chorus students from Isaac E. Young Middle School helped honor those who gave their lives fighting for our nation’s freedoms. The students, under the direction of music teacher Sarah Bianco, performed three pieces as part of the observance at the American Legion on Memorial Day. Under the direction of Sarah Bianco, the students performed “The Star Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America” and “Song for the Unsung Hero.” One performer said, "Everyone did their best to honor the military" while another said, "It was nice singing because we got to sing for people and to show respect for the unsung heroes." Congressman Jamaal Bowman acknowledged the talent and dedication of the students in his speech.
