Dear Isaac E. Young School Community,
As you may be aware, our school does not have mechanical ventilation throughout the building. For some spaces, we are required to open windows for ventilation. Due to the very poor air quality caused by Canadian wildfires, opening windows is not currently advised.
We will dismiss on our regular schedule today. There will be no after school activities or clubs. All students and staff are urged to leave as soon as possible after dismissal. For tomorrow, June 8, we will decide how to proceed in consultation with our school district Interim Medical Director and will inform the school community by 6:00 a.m. if we need to close the building. As always, student and staff safety is our top priority and will inform our decision making.

Como ustedes saben, nuestra escuela no tiene ventilación mecánica en todo el edificio. Para algunos espacios, estamos obligados a abrir las ventanas para la ventilación. Debido a la muy mala calidad del aire causada por los incendios forestales de Canadá, la apertura de ventanas no se aconseja actualmente.
Los estudiantes saldrán de la escuela en el horario habitual. No habrá actividades extraescolares ni clubes. Se ruega a todos nuestros estudiantes y personal que se salgan del edificio lo antes posible. Mañana, decidiremos cómo proceder en consulta con el Director Médico Interino de nuestro distrito escolar e informaremos a la comunidad escolar antes de las 6:00 a.m. si necesitamos cerrar el edificio. Como siempre, la seguridad de los estudiantes y el personal es nuestra máxima prioridad. Mañana antes de las 6 am le informaremos nuestra decisión.

The City School District of New Rochelle was selected to report BMI/WSC (Body Mass Index/Weight Status Category) data to the New York State Department of Health for students who were in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 during the 2021-2022 school year. Only summary information is sent. No names and no information about individual students are sent. You may choose to have your child’s information excluded from this survey report.
If you do not wish to have your child’s weight status group information included as part of the Health Department’s survey this year, please contact your child's school nurse to complete the opt-out form.
